PHYS 4020/7020 - General Relativity II: Applications and Cosmology
(3 Credits)

Topics include static solutions of Einstein's equations, gravitational waves, static models for stars (white dwarfs, neutron stars), dynamic models for stars (Birkhoff theorem, black holes), cosmology (Robertson-Walker metric, Friedmann equations), extended and alternative theories for gravity (e.g. Brans-Dicke theory, Einstein-Cartan theory, and Kaluza-Klein theory). Prerequistie: PHYS 4010 or 7010. Students may not hold credit for both PHYS 4020 and PHYS 7020.
